Living & Working in Australia

Working in Australia is extremely common among travellers, due to its ease of obtaining a visa, high wages, and it's unique landscapes.

Working Holiday Visa

(subclass 417 or 462)

The most common work visa for travelers is the Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417 or 462). Check the eligibility section's "Hold this passport" to determine which subclass is for you. Both are nearly the same, but each are only available to select countries.

Acquiring a 2nd and 3rd Year Work Visa

If you find work that meets the following requirements, you can choose to apply for further visas:

  1. Work for at least the minimum period (88 days for 2nd year, 6 months for 3rd year)

  2. Work in an Approved Industry (see 417 or 462)

  3. Work in Regional Australia (see 417 or 462)

Be sure to fill out This Form with your employer before you leave, stating your days worked and job details to make for an easy application
